goodfoodandwineshowWith the popularity of craftier beers on the rise, it’s possibly no real surprise that the Brisbane Good Food & Wine Show has embraced beer as part of it’s line-up for the first time this year. There are four beer related masterclasses available and they look rather appealing and affordable…

MEDIA RELEASE

This year’s Brisbane Good Food & Wine Show will, for the first time, feature a dedicated series of masterclasses revolving around Queensland’s favourite summer’s day golden ale.

Whether you want to be inspired by master brewers, explore a selection of the world’s best beers, discover the difference glass shape can make to your beer drinking experience or simply enjoy a few cold ones with friends, you’ll find the opportunity at this year’s Show at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, October 17-19 from 9am-5pm daily.

Discover that there’s more to beer than meets the eye at one of these dedicated masterclasses:

Moo Brew presents Craft Beer 101 ($20)
11.00am – 11.45pm Daily
Moo Brew presents Craft Beer 101 is a conversation about beer. The masterclass will cover everything from the raw materials involved in the making of beer and individual styles, to the brewing and fermentation process. With the opportunity to try three core styles brewed by Moo Brew, this is a fantastic class for any beer lover, regardless of your existing knowledge.

Spiegelau Beer Glass Tasting ($50)
12.30pm – 1.30pm Daily
Join us for a Spiegelau Beer Glass Tasting and discover the impact that glass shape can have on your beer. In this entertaining and enlightening experience you will explore our style-specific glassware range, the Beer Classics, which were designed in sensory workshops to highlight and balance the characteristics of different beer styles. With your host Csilla Swain, Brand Manager of Spiegelau Australia, discover how the thickness of the glass impacts the temperature, and be amazed by the loss of flavour and enjoyment when drinking straight from the bottle. The tasting kit you will use during the class, including the Lager, Wheat Beer, IPA and Stemmed Pilsner glasses, is yours to keep, valued at $79.95. This fascinating and informative tasting will change the way you drink beer forever!
Gift Pack Inclusions: Spiegelau Beer Classics Tasting Kit, valued at $79.95; and a Beer Lovers Guide, valued at $9.95

Phoenix Beers presents the International Craft Beer Masterclass ($20)
2.15pm – 3.15pm Daily
Take the flavoursome journey from Old World to New with a selection of the world’s best beers, served in the finest, style-specific glassware! Phoenix Beers gives you the opportunity to taste a thousand years of brewing tradition, courtesy of Bavaria’s Weltenburger and Weihenstephan breweries. Then we’ll head across the Atlantic and sample bold, flavour-forward creations from Sierra Nevada and Rogue – breweries at the forefront of America’s craft beer revolution. Will it be the Old or New World for you? Armed with the right glasses, you’ll taste these two worlds at their very best!

Modern Australian Craft Beer, with Bridge Road Brewers ($20)
4:00pm – 5:00pm Daily
Discover the diverse array of aromas and flavours that distinguish craft beer from the mainstream with one of Australia’s leading craft breweries, Beechworth’s Bridge Road Brewers. Smell and taste your way through an exciting range of very different craft beer styles, and learn how Australian brewers have embraced and adapted old world styles to create a “new world” of craft beer. Lou from Bridge Road will be on hand to guide you so whether you are a novice, aficionado or just enjoy beer, come and join us for a relaxed but informative chat over a few cold ones.

You can also create a new list of favourites by exploring breweries from Queensland and beyond and sampling their latest releases. Breweries on show include Granite Belt Brewery, Coopers Brewery, Endless Cider, Blue Moon, Rekorderlig, The Australian Brewery, Stone & Wood, Two Elk Cider and Zeven Lemon Beerworks. When you’re ready for a bite, head to the Nip of Courage Grazing Garden where famed food trucks from around Brisbane including The Bun Mobile, That BBQ Joint and Siguenos have been mustered into green and grassy pastures so you can eat, chat and relax with mates or perhaps try out the new Awesome Beef Jerky from local Kilkivan Meats in the Gympie region.

While you’re at the Show you can also take a cooking masterclass, discover and celebrate the finest local and regional produce Australia has to offer, chat with local farmers, producers and winemakers while your taste buds explore labels you’ve yet to discover.
