The 2014 Fortitude Ulysses is an English barley wine, brewed in mid-2013 and aged in a Yalumba Octavius Shiraz barrel for 6 months before entering cold conditioning for a further 6 months.
Ulysses will become an annual vintage beer to be released at The Ulysses Festival each year.
The Ulysses Festival is a British Ale Festival and Darts Tournament between breweries, bars, bloggers, beer fans and the general public. The inaugural 2014 festival will be held at Fortitude Brewing Cellar Door, Tamborine Mountain, on Saturday September 6.
This year’s Ulysses Festival will feature a range of Fortitude and Noisy Minor beers however, once licensing allows, future festivals will feature British style ales and real ales from other breweries in Queensland and around the country.
Five new release beers will be available at the 2014 Ulysses Festival:
– Fortitude Ulysses (barley wine paired with English Stilton cheese)
– Fortitude Bitter (cask conditioned edition)
– Noisy Minor Three Dragons Burton Ale
– Noisy Minor Winston Old Ale (handpump)
– Noisy Minor Dorian Gray Baltic Porter (barrel aged edition)
Current captains for the Darts Tournament are:
Ian Watson – Head Brewer, Fortitude Brewing
Darren Magin – Editor, 250 Beers (that’s me, of course)
The Champion team will receive the Ulysses Trophy – a magnum of 2014 Fortitude Ulysses…the only one in existence.
Applications are welcome for participation in the darts tournament. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to secure your team/place. Entry is free and proceedings begin at midday.
Celebrating the launch of a brand new beer – surrounded by numerous other British style ales with family and friends – could there be a better way to spend your Saturday this Father’s Day weekend? Bring your Dad along!
