Today is the day.
I will wave goodbye to my greying hair in the name of Leukaemia this very afternoon.
The Second Combing/World’s Greatest Shave event at Newstead Brewing Co. kicks-off at 3pm and our five-strong team, Newstead Balding Co., are well on the way to raising $4,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation.
That figure is simply mind-blowing!
When the concept of combining the second keg release of my (well, Bacchus’) Hair of the Blog Imperial IPA with a charity event first came to life, I had no idea that we’d raise so much in sponsorship and donations. This is all down to good friendships, pumping it through social media and, of course, the generosity of family and complete strangers in general. Four grand isn’t a massive sum of money. However, for a blogger, a few brewers and a beer nerd to be nearing that figure makes me quite proud – proud of the fact that random human beings can get together to do something for others less fortunate.
I’ve very nearly doubled my initial, personal target of $500 and I need your help to get me to the magical $1,000 mark – and ideally beyond! If you’d like to get involved by sponsoring me securely online, then click here. It takes less than two minutes and you’ll be sent a tax receipt via email.
Alternatively, if you’re in Brisbane this afternoon or evening, come along to 85 Doggett Street, donate in person and be part of the fun! While you’re in, grab a Hair of the Blog IIPA with a beef rendang curry – made especially for The Second Combing – and Newstead Brewing Co. will automatically donate 23% of the cost to the Leukaemia Foundation.
Thanks in advance for your support! It really does mean the world to the team and I. More importantly, you’ll be helping people who suffer from a horrid blood disorder.
