Luke & Dave – peas in a pod(cast)

Most keen bloggers are always on the look-out for something different to write about in their ‘specialised’ field. I’ve always maintained that blogs should be original as there is no point writing about something that another blogger has already covered off. Personally, I think originality gives a blog real zest and a wider appeal.
I’ve been humbled twice this year by other beer bloggers asking for my (probably worthless) advice on their blogs. My advice every time is “Be original.” Somebody gave me that very same advice when I first started out and it is my golden rule. Beer reviews are an exception; reviews of the same beer get written but the opinions in those reviews are those of the contributor and are personal.
A beer blog with a podcast – now there’s originality. Well, sort of. It’s been done before but listening to somebody talk about beer is slightly more entertaining than reading it and the latest beer podcast available for your ears provides content that is original.
Ale of a Time is hosted by two Melbourne-based beer lovers – Luke and Dave. The podcast takes its title from Luke’s blog of the same name.
One of the topics in their first episode is ‘beer blogs’. Amongst a handful of other wonderful Australian beer blogs, I get a mention at around the 15min 54sec point. In fact, I get the first mention. I blushed a little.
Go and download the podcast and listen to it in its entirety. If you feel the need to flick straight to 15:54 then do that too but make sure you go back and listen from the start afterwards.
Thank you for the mention guys and keep it up! It kept me entertained during a very average afternoon in the office.
The Sessions is a worthy listen too. http://www.thesessions.com/podcast (I think…)
