October 27, 2013 by 250 Beers

I thought about doing Dry July earlier this year and I contemplated Ocsober too but I’m actually quite shit at abstaining from things that I enjoy – ceasing to drink beer for a whole month is particularly difficult for me. It’s not due to a lack of will-power. In fact, I’m very head-strong indeed. I just don’t see the point in stopping something that I thoroughly like doing.

However, with my shape beginning to become somewhat rotund and my 18 month old son now saying “Boobies” whilst pointing at my chest (his current vocabulary doesn’t exceed five words) I’m going to attempt to seriously cut back my beer intake during November. Also, instead of working on a beer I’m going to be working up a sweat with a significant increase in physical exercise planned (for November and beyond).

Now, because I’m not going full-on cold turkey with NOvemBEER I’m going to hold five joker cards that I can swiftly put into play during November. Using a joker card will allow me to consume beer on that given day for no longer than a 24 hour period. This can happen no more than five times during November’s 30 days.

If my dearest wife, Mrs 250 Beers, reads this then I should make it quite clear to her that NOvemBEER doesn’t mean that the purchasing of beer will stop for a month and it doesn’t mean that she can take over my allotted space in the beer fridge with silly wines. It means that I’ll be accumulating a Christmas Beer Stash to rival the one from last year.

  6. […] I accumulated a Christmas stash of beers last year. It consisted of a pile of 31 different bottles that I’d gathered to see me through 2012′s yuletide festivities.
