June 18, 2013 by 250 Beers
As far as Mondays go, yesterday (June 17th) was average. It started off with me missing my train and arriving at the office around 9.30am. Not the greatest start to the working week.
However, the day ended on a high note…
I was lucky enough to receive an invitation a few weeks ago from Barrel Media. The invite was to be a part of the 2013 Queensland Beer Week launch party…it was this preview to the largest event of its kind in Queensland that got me just a wee bit excited.
The party was held at Brisbane’s Pig n Whistle on Eagle Street and kicked off at 5.30pm. Selfishly, this turned out to be perfect for me as it gave me time at work to catch up on the eBaying, er I mean, Facebook, er I mean, blogging, er I mean work stuff that I was behind on due to my late arrival earlier in the day.
The party was more of a casual gathering of a who’s who in the Brisbane craft beer scene. I won’t name-drop as there are too many to mention but suffice to say there were plenty of reps from local and state-wide breweries plus distributors, bar owners, social media gurus and beer writers. I was slightly over-dressed in my work garb but I managed to keep the tie and bowler hat safely tucked away.
Food was kindly provided by the ‘Pig’ whilst beverages were supplied by Moo Brew, Brisbane Brewhouse and Hills Cider.
There are shit-loads of events planned for next month at lots of different venues across the state (mainly around Brisbane it has to be said). It all commences at midday on July 13th with the Queensland Homebrewing Conference.
If you haven’t yet made yourself familiar with the events schedule for QLD Beer Week, check it out by clicking here, keep up to date with the QLD Beer Week Facebook page or grab a printed copy at your local BWS store from this coming Friday onwards.
Queensland is just a month away from the start of Beer Week and last night was all about getting the word out there in the public domain. Hopefully, this post will help in some way.
